The Maine River and its embankments are conceived as a gateway between the two natural areas located upstream and downstream of Angers, but also as a succession of significant public spaces.
The river banks are not a simple boundary between land and water. The transition is materialized by embankments, slope vegetation, arrays of stones, high and low docks, lines of trees, paths, built fronts, etc.
This perception is reflected in two specific measures:
• extension of the banks towards the historical centre,
• extension of the city centre towards a hitherto neglected sector.
